The Founders

The founders of Busy Bee Dog Productions and the producers of the Busy Bee Dog DVDs are a husband and wife team who enjoy working with their pets to entertain children and the canine loving public. The couple met at a disc dog competition and credits their dogs for bringing them together. The Maeder Family consists of Herb, Lana, 2 young sons, 6 dogs and 3 horses.

Lana Maeder attended California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, where she majored in Animal Science. Emphasis was placed on equine behavior modification. A few of Lana's favorite trainers were the first to use natural horsemanship methods and who were later referred to as "horse whisperers". These same methods were modified to work on canines and were found by the 35 year old trainer to also benefit dogs with great success. For the past seven years, expert animal communicator, Lana Maeder has been amazing crowds with her live pet shows. Her strengths lie in training animals to accomplish incredible tricks and stunts with precision, in addition to finding the right combination of comedy and crowd appeal to provide top notch entertainment. Recently, Lana has once again proven herself as an expert animal handler as she has easily embraced the transition from live performances to studio productions.

Herb Maeder holds bachelor's and master's degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of California at Davis. He comes from a technical background specializing in hardware and software design, implementation, and mass production of consumer electronics. Herb enjoys working in startup and small company environments and is known for his dedication and determination in bringing success to businesses and related products. He is currently running a small engineering consulting business.

Together, this husband and wife team offer a combination of technical skills, experience in the entertainment industry, a knowledge of customer service, and more importantly, a love of their pets and children, which provides the foundation for the Busy Bee Dogs concepts and product lines.
